IV INFUSIONS

Iron Sucrose Infusions

Restore Iron Levels with Medically-Guided IV Therapy

Why Iron Matters

Iron is essential for producing healthy red blood cells and transporting oxygen throughout the body. When iron levels become depleted, the body may struggle to make enough hemoglobin, potentially leading to iron deficiency and, in some cases, iron deficiency anemia.

Iron sucrose is an intravenous (IV) iron therapy used to replenish iron stores when oral iron supplements are ineffective, not well tolerated, or when more rapid replacement is medically appropriate.

Who May Benefit?

✔

Have poor absorption from conditions affecting the digestive tract

✔

Have ongoing blood loss, such as heavy menstrual bleeding or certain GI conditions

A medical evaluation and laboratory review are required before treatment to determine if IV iron is appropriate.

Symptoms of Iron Deficiency

Fatigue or low energy
Weakness
Shortness of breath
Dizziness
Headaches
Pale skin
Cold hands & feet
Restless legs
Difficulty concentrating
Brittle nails / hair shedding
These symptoms are not specific to iron deficiency. Laboratory testing is necessary to confirm whether iron deficiency is present.

Why Iron Sucrose?

Iron sucrose has been used for many years and is one of the most commonly administered IV iron formulations. It allows iron to be delivered directly into the bloodstream, bypassing the gastrointestinal tract.

Depending on your iron deficiency and treatment goals, multiple infusions may be recommended to fully replenish iron stores.

What to Expect

Is IV Iron Right for You?

Not everyone with fatigue needs iron therapy. Treatment should be based on laboratory evidence of iron deficiency and an individualized medical assessment. Our providers perform a comprehensive consultation, review your laboratory results, and determine whether iron sucrose is an appropriate treatment option. If additional evaluation is needed to identify the underlying cause of iron deficiency, we will discuss the appropriate next steps.
